1868 King Mongkut's holograph letter dated 7 July 1868 and cover written at Chantrakasem Palace, Ayuddhia to Honorable D.K. Mason, the Siamese consul in London on double folded letter sheet size 13.5x21 cm. upper left bearing the Royal Command seal in red, in which the King was very glad to learn that Mr. Mason has succeeded to have the recognition of being Siam consul. The letter was signed by the King and stamped with H.M.'s Royal Seal and initial “S.P.P.M., Mongkut RS.” seal in red on 6264 days of the reign. The cover bears a printed paper label Thai and English address to D.K. Mason Esquire, Phra Siam Dhurrabah, The functionary Consul for Siam in London. The flip bearing Royal Seal in red wax. King Mongkut passed away on 1st October 1868 exactly 85 days after this letter was sent out and probably the last few letters the King wrote. Excellent well preserved condition. Rare. VF.(2 pcs)
